Gimme Gimme Sound Treatment Broken Social Scene Though based near Woodstock, New York, GIMME THAT SOUND PRODUCTIONS has deep Chicago ties. Founder Stephen George was the original drummer in Ministry and left in 1984 to form Colortone. Using his major-label connections, he began producing albums for Ric Ocasek and Jane Wiedlin.

Pete Berwick started his new, 18-song album at SKYE BLUE STUDIOS in Villa Park. Berwick is recording his third album with his most recent band, The Renegades (guitarist Rick Devries, bassist Nick Verbik, and drummer Rob Surey), and co-producer Jason Botka. It should be out in early ’09.

Don Byczynski remembers exactly what his wife told him when he proposed gutting the entire basement of the couple’s Lake In The Hills home and converting it into a recording studio. “She said, ‘As long as I can’t hear anything, fine,” Byczynski, who goes by dB, says, seemingly still unable to believe it himself.
