50 years? Yep, that’s how long England’s The Damned have managed to keep it together. Although, “together” is certainly subjective. The band has been a revolving door of members, break ups, reunions and musically aesthetic face lifts.
Part of the initial first wave of Punk Rock, it could be argued that their lack of commitment to punk’s “1…2…3…4…” style of delivery is what help to preserve their existence. The consummate road dogs that they are, the touring life brought them to Chicago’s Concord Music Hall and delivered a career spanning set on an all to apropos Halloween night. Attendees did not disappoint.
They showed up in festive garb, some even representing specific eras of the band’s look. While an ailing Captain Sensible was able to hold it together on guitar, the rest of the band delivered a spotless soundtrack worthy of the evening’s spook show
