Recap/Gallery: Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago 2017 at Union Park – Day 1
2017 is arguably the year the Pitchfork Music Festival rediscovered its groove. Although the Chicago-based festival has always been adventurous in their approach to the acts it has booked, the past few years have felt a bit âeh.â This yearâs line-up made it all that a fading memory. Curt Baran hit Union Park on the […]
Recap/Gallery: Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago 2017 at Union Park – Day 2
There was a palpable electricity in the air on day 2 of the Pitchfork Music Festival. The recently reunited A Tribe Called Quest had the headlining slot, but the day, hell, the whole weekend was owned by female artists. Curt Baran was back in the park on Saturday and he grabbed shots of Vagabon, Jeff […]
Recap/Gallery: Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago 2017 at Union Park â Day 3
At Day 3 of 2017’s Pitchfork Music Festival hit a few speed bumps. Due to an illness in the family, The Avalanches were forced to cancel. Recap and Gallery: Dead & Company at Wrigley Field
Dead & Company Wrigley Field, Chicago Saturday, July 1, 2017 No, Dead & Company arenât exactly the Grateful Dead, but considering the group consists of Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, plus the originally unexpected but nonetheless exceptional John Mayer with Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti, itâs an all-star tribute to the original Dead. […]
Photo Gallery: Red Hot Chili Peppers at United Center
Red Hot Chili Peppers stormed Chicagoâs United Center this past weekend, acting like the Jam Band theyâve always secretly hidden under a heavy blanket of tattoos and punk rock-infused funk riffs. Curt Baran parked himself in the photo pit for night one of a two night residency, fighting a soundtrack that all but dared him […]
Photo Gallery: 311 with New Politics at HBP at Northerly Island
An ominous looking cloud gathered over Northerly Island just before 311 took the stage. On an otherwise postcard ready evening, the gathering stormâŚoh who are we fooling?âŚit was weed people! This is 311 after all, the two go together like mac and cheese. Curt Baran went into the pit to capture the evenings proceedings. New […]
