Interview: Rufus Wainwright
First comes love and then comes marriage. For some, the sacred vows of holy matrimony signal the arrival of a baby carriage, but not for Rufus Wainwright.
Hello, My Name Is Roger
IE: Duran Duran are part of the Olympic Team Great Britain? Roger Taylor: This is going to be the musical version of that. We’re representing England; Stereophonics are representing Wales; Snow Patrol are representing Northern Ireland; and Paolo Nutini is representing Scotland. It’s a big night for the Brits. We’re all going to unite under […]
The Coast with the most
Liking Best Coast doesn’t mean you have to like Spin‘s “power couple” cover story on Wavves’ Nathan Williams and BC’s Bethany Cosentino. You can still go to this weekend’s show, or see Black Box Revelation, Ponderosa, Supreme Cuts, Blues Control, and Louden Swain.
Trace Adkins live!
When a guy is 6 feet 6 inches, it doesn’t take much to make a grand entrance. All of Trace Adkins, cowboy boots and black hat, burst through a couple of barn doors July 20th at the Rialto Square Theater, bowed to the crowd, and started telling stories.

Slipknot, Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax, As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel, and more swarmed (like locusts) down on First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on July 21st, and IE was there with a camera.
Def Leppard & Poison live!
The ’80s were revived last Thursday night, as two of the decade’s premiere arena bands invaded Allstate Arena on the “Rock Of Ages” tour. Seal & Macy Gray live!
Throughout the past 20 years and some change, Seal has regularly switched up his musical personality, whether that be the alternative rocker, romantic balladeer, or electro-pop hit maker. Now 49, it’s only natural to find him mellowing over projects like 2008’s Soul (143/Warner Bros.) and last year’s sequel.
Nicki Minaj live!
Though her public persona and her voice in her music suggests a frenetic cartoon character, the Nicki Minaj who performed Monday night at the Chicago Theatre often brought out another side of the MC.
Wilco at the ballpark!
Sunday, July 8th was the Geneva convention for Wilco fans, who flocked to Fifth Third Ballpark to watch their heroes with Andrew Bird and The Congregation.

They were coming to the United Center (via Chicago and America) on the 6th, where Neil Diamond cut a solitary figure.
Iron Maiden live shots!
We hurtled down to Tinley Park to catch Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on July 5th. Click on!
Hello, My Name Is Gina
IE: How well do you guys know each other? Gina Bloom: I was playing drums for a band, and three of the others were in an alt-country band. We happened to be playing the same gig, they saw me sing during soundcheck, and approached me to put this band together after the show.
