Stage Buzz: Peter Hook & the Light, Kesha, Robert Rolfe Feddersen, Corn Fest
Berwynâs Cigars & Stripes BBQ has brought back food and fun to Route 66 for 25 years, and theyâre celebrating this week on Wednesday, August 26, with their Bike Meetup, featuring Loudmouth vocalist Robert Rolfe Feddersen on stage. Feddersen became a favorite of legendary producer Steve Albini over several years, and heâll be mining his catalog midweek on Ogden Ave.
The biggest K-Pop group in the world, BTS, is getting ready to take over Chicago. Thanks to the die-hard devotion of the BTS Army, Governor JB Pritzker has declared August 27th and 28th as âBTS Dayâ in Illinois. How should you celebrate? Hopefully, you already got tickets to the groupâs sold-out shows at Soldier Field. The boy band brings their âArirang Tourâ to the city on the aforementioned BTS Days. Get all the details here.
Peter Hook & the Light are celebrating the 25th anniversary of New Orderâs 2001 album, Get Ready, with a full album performance. The band will also perform a string of New Order and Joy Division favorites when the tour comes to Chicago for two sold-out nights at the Metro on August 28th and August 29th. With the implosion of the original New Order (Steven Morris and Gillian Gilbert are not touring for the foreseeable future), this is the closest youâll get to the 80s and 90s sound and heyday of the band. See the details here.
After years of strife and a public battle with music producer Dr. Luke, Kesha is free. And sheâs making sure everyone knows about it. The singer is celebrating her freedom on her bright, vibrant, and loud âFreedom Tour,â with special guests Chromeo and Erika Jayne. Get ready to let loose when the tour takes over Tinley Parkâs Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 29th. You can still get tickets here.
One of the festival highlights in late summer in DeKalb is its annual Corn Fest, a 3-day fest (August 28-30) spread across 12 square blocks downtown. Musical highlights include The Pop 2000 Tour with LFO, O-Town, Chris Kirkpatrick from *NSYNC, Ryan Cabrera, and more. The full lineup is at: www.cornfest.com/sound-stage. Tickets are on sale here. The fest also includes a carnival, craft fair, family activities, and the traditional Chuck Siebrasse Corn Boil.
O-Town hit the scene right as the boy band craze was tapering off, but they made an impression with hits like âAll or Nothing,â âWe Fit Together,â and the iconic âLiquid Dreams.â Now, the band is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. Join O-Town as they take you back to the era of frosted tips and flashy matching outfits with their sold-out show at City Winery on Sunday, August 30th. Get more information here.
