Since their inception back in 1995, Godsmack, arguably, better navigated the blurred lines between hard rock and what would come to be known as the Grunge movement.
With a collection of Grammy nominations and chart success, that included multiple #1 debuts, the Lawrence, Massachusetts band established itself as heavy enough for Metal fans, but also managed to avoid the Scarlet H that sank countless late β80s hair bands.
After cycling through a revolving door of members, lead singer and chief songwriter Sully Erna now remains the quartetβs only original member. Although having not released any new material since 2023βs Lighting Up The Sky (a live album was released in May of this year, but contained no new material), Erna has hit the road for what heβs dubbed βThe Rise of Rockβ tour.
From the first notes of βWhen Legends Riseβ until the final blast of βI Stand Alone,β the bandβs right foot never left the accelerator for the entirety of their performance in Tinley Park, taking fans on a career spanning joy ride through their three-decade plus catalogue of Modern Rock unit shifters. Hell, they even made leather pants seems stylish again.
