It would be as garishly sinful if Cher’s legacy were somehow tied to the media circus surrounding her child on “Dancing With The Stars.”
It’s a staple of the hot-girl celebrity interview: “I’m really kind of a nerd.” N-n-n-n-n-no. Cher was a nerd: homely, rail-thin, owl-eyed, and hippie-tressed. Husky-voiced and a versatile actor, her secret weapon, however, was her frame – she could and would wear anything. Not many drag icons have a transgender daughter-cum-son; even fewer are the celebrities whom people don’t dress like to mock, but to wonder what it’s like to be them.
