Stabbing Westward

Cypress Hill is the hip-hop group that brought us classic gems like “Insane in the Brain” and “The Phuncky Feel One.” Known for their blend of hip hop, gangsta rap, rock, and psychedelic, the band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and became the first hip hop to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. The group returns for the appropriately named “We Legalized It 2024” tour with The Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief. The tour will swing by the Concord Music Hall on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 PM. You can find tickets here.

With her out-of-this-world flow, flamboyant personality, and in-your-face energy, it’s easy to see how Nicki Minaj became a hip-hop icon. Though she’s been in the game since 2004, it wouldn’t be until her 2010 album Pink Friday that she broke mainstream. Now, she’s a global superstar. Minaj will bring her latest album, Pink Friday 2, to the United Center for two nights on April 24th and 25th with special guest Monica. Grab tickets here.

Hawthorne Heights released their debut album, The Silence In Black and White, in the midst of the emo rock boom of the mid-2000s. It may not have been a hit with critics, but it struck a chord with fans who helped get the album to No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart. 20 years later, it’s still considered one of their landmark albums. The band celebrates its 20th anniversary with two shows at City Winery on Friday, April 26th, at 7 PM and 10:30 PM. Tickets are available here.

Stabbing Westward helped carry the torch of Chicago Industrial into the ’90s. Their breakthrough album Wither Blister Burn & Peel found them success with singles “Shame” and “What Do I Have to Do?” The album would go on to be certified gold. Though the band has gone through numerous line-up changes throughout the years (and a health scare for vocalist/co-founder Christopher Hall), they’re triumphantly returning to their former hometown on this tour. Their latest album, Chasing Ghosts, dropped in 2022. See these Chicago icons yourself at the House of Blues on Friday, April 26, at 6 PM. Find tickets here.
