Stage Buzz: Chelsea Wolfe, Mitski, Health, Buried and Me

| March 19, 2024

Mitski

Singer/songwriter Chelsea Wolfe invents her own musical hybrids. Throughout her career, she has fused together folk, doom metal, goth rock, industrial, experimental music, and noise rock to create a sound that’s truly her own. But the one thing that never changes is how entrancing and haunting her songs are. See Wolfe in action at The Vic Theatre on Tuesday, March 19th at 8 PM. Grab tickets here.

Mitski is fearless. Unafraid to get raw and emotional, she lays it all bare in her songs. She’s not afraid to get deeply personal about desire, loneliness, heartache, and angst. Her unapologetic honesty quickly made her a favorite in the indie rock scene. Now, she returns to Chicago this weekend in support of her critically acclaimed album The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We. Mitski will play a total of four sold-out nights at the Auditorium Theatre on Thursday, March 21, through Sunday, March 24.

Listening to LA noise rockers HEALTH feels like you’re disassociating in a goth nightclub. Their music is pulsating and bombastic; so heavy it feels like you’re being hit repeatedly in the gut. Yet, the vulnerable lyrics and vocal style of frontman Jake Duzsik can often sound like an existential crisis. HEALTH returns to Chicago in support of their new album, RAT WARS, to the Concord Music Hall with special guests Pixel Grip and King Yosef this Friday, March 22, at 7 PM. You can still grab tickets here.

Between the Buried and Me is bringing the “Colors” experience to Chicago this weekend. The band will celebrate their seminal album Colors and its 2021 sequel Colors II by performing both albums in full over the course of two nights. Fans can hear Colors at Bottom Lounge on Sunday, March 24, followed by Colors II on Monday, March 25. Night one is sold out, but you can grab tickets for night two here.
