Avenged Sevenfold became critical darlings of the metal scene with their breakthrough album City of Evil. In the nearly two decades since its release, the band has become heavy metal titans racking up a stream of accolades along the way. Though known for their heavy sound and iconic twin guitar solos, their latest release, Life is but a Dream… is their most ambitious move into the realms of prog and avant-grade metal. Expect to hear a night of hits and new songs when they bring the “Life is bit a Dream” tour to Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park this Friday, July 28. One of Chicago’s higher-profile summer festivals is finally here! Wicker Park Fest returns for a weekend packed with music, drinks, and good food. Performers this year include headliners Built to Spill and The Regrettes, along with Speedy Ortiz, Baby Jake, Dreamer Isioma, Lido Pimienta, Worry Club, Say She She, and more. Taking place along Milwaukee Avenue from Damen to Ashland, the party starts Friday, July 28th at 5:00 PM and runs until Sunday, July 30. Festival entrance is free, but a $10 donation is encouraged. Singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is pulling double duty this weekend, playing not one but two special shows. First, Sheeran will play a sold-out intimate show at the Chicago Theatre in support of his latest album, Subtract, this Friday, July 28th. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to get tickets, don’t worry because Sheeran will be back on Saturday, July 29, to play a massive show at Solider Field with Khalid and Cat Burns.
