Stage Buzz – Live Shots: Interpol
New York’s Interpol named their 2002 debut album Turn On The Bright Lights, with complete irony. Their music had a dark, but driving heaviness not frequented since the late ’70s somberness of Manchester’s legendary Joy Division. Fast forward to 2014 and the band still seems comfortable in their nocturnal environs.
IE photographer Curt Baran was lurking in the shadows at the Riviera Theater for the band’s recent sold-out performance. Fortunately, the heavy brooding was broken up by the Florida-based Hundred Waters who helped get the evening off to a less frightful start.
