Stage Buzz – Live shots: Antemasque/Le Butcherettes
If (the awesomely coifed) Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodriguez (the creative forces behind seminal rockers At The Drive-In and Prog Rock outfit The Mars Volta) ever needed a timely, new mantra: “break it apart and start again” would certainly seem to be a worthy candidate.
After dismantling aforementioned bands at the heights of their respective popularity, the duo have now created Antemasque. The quartet are touring behind a self titled debut, which brought them to Chicago’s Metro on an unseasonably chilly November night this past Sunday. We sent IE photographer Curt Baran to the job site to asses their progress. Opening act Le Butcherettes, featuring lead singer/hellion Terri Gender Bender, helped with the heavy lifting.
