At BOTA STUDIOS in Lake In The Hills, old-school thrashers Vicious worked on a full-length due out this month. BOTA also recently joined forced with Recording Artists Workshop (RAW) and have a new Web site at www.botastudio.com.

At PARAGON RECORDING STUDIO in Chicago, local modern rock act 72 Hours tracked and mixed their next LP with house engineer Joe Connors . . . Anne Coulter’s Psycho Nazi Beach Party put the finishing touches on their soon-to-be-released album . . . Australian bluesman Mick Diggles tracked for a full-length release . . . Local hip-hop group Ill Niggas worked on their next record.

At PRAGMA STUDIOS in Chicago, My My My recorded and mixed their new album with Dan Wean . . . Van Ghost worked on their debut LP, Melodies For Lovers, with Wean . . . I Fight Dragons worked on a five-song EP with Mike Hari . . . Hari mixed the new Triumph & Parade acoustic EP.

At SHIRK MUSIC + SOUND in Chicago, the studio relocated to what was formerly Battery Studios on Green Street in the River West area. They upgraded their gear to include a totally rehabbed Neotek Series III analog console (restoration and modifications done by CS Electronics), as well as an MCI JH16 16-track, 2-inch tape machine . . . Daphne Willis signed with Vanguard Records, and Shirk Music completed her first full-length album, which the label will release in early 2009. Willis also recorded another studio tune as well as a few live cuts that will be released on an EP due this fall . . . Studio owner Stephen Shirk finished mixing and mastering the seven-track Ruby Rivers (NYC) EP. The album was mastered at Kitchen Mastering in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and due to be released late this summer . . . Shirk mixed hip-hop and club tracks for NYC producer Howard Lambert . . . Shirk also recorded and mixed two new songs for The Waystation (Chicago/London-based) for their EP, released last month . . . Pistols At Dawn completed tracking seven new songs, and Shirk remixed two songs from their last EP. The album is due on Lick The Boot Recordings this fall.

At SOUNDSCAPE STUDIOS in Chicago, owner Michael Kolar and staff are almost done with the new studio . . . Rocko worked on a new song, “Blowing Money,” produced by local team SNS Entertainment . . . Shawnna and Jak Frost recorded, mixed, and mastered their new club banger, “Wut Ham,” which was produced by 110% Pure . . . GLC worked on two new songs, one with Peter Pan and the other for Bulgarian rapper Misho Shamara . . . Kolar is now the Vice President of the Engineering And Recording Society Of Chicago (E.A.R.S). He and President Kerry Haps hope to restore the organization, which meets on the last Tuesday of every month at various Chicagoland studios, to its glory days.
