The Artist Formally Known As Vince finished his new release, Welcome To The Show, set for release November 21st. Recording took place at OXIDE LOUNGE RECORDING in Bloomington. It was produced, engineered, and mixed by studio owner Tony San Filippo.

At FIFTH FLOOR RECORDERS in Chicago, Robot Lounge, High Action, Emily Altman, Dan McGuiness, and Creedence Again all recorded . . . This studio, owned and operated by John Maxwell (ex-The Bomb, Mangos, etc.), features a vintage Neotek console and ProTools.

At GRAVITY STUDIOS in Chicago, 3AM Project mixed and mastered nine songs with Doug McBride . . . Silversun Pickups (Dangerbird) and The Changes recorded, mixed, and mastered with McBride for Thetripwire.com podcasts . . . Skillet (Atlantic) mixed their new EP with Dave Riley . . . Confusion recorded some new tunes with Joshua “Cartier” Cutsinger . . . Blackmaker recorded and mixed their new EP with Chris Henry . . . Phake finished their EP; George Balogi engineered and mixed, and McBride mastered.

Hard rock alternative/punk/ grunge band NatureDevil worked on their 12-song debut album, Better Living Through Denial, and a five-song EP, Doesn’t Play Well With Others, at DEMENTED STUDIOS with engineer David DeMent. Both records were produced by Brian S. Lambrecht.

Chicago singer-songwriter Mark McKay began recording his next album at COWBOY TECHNICAL SERVICES in Brooklyn, New York. Musical collaborators include producer/guitarist Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Timothy Bracken, bassist #Keith Christopher, and engineer Tim Hatfield.

At RENWOOD MESSENGER RECORDING STUDIOS in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Atlantic Records artists Skillet tracked acoustic versions of songs from the new Comatose CD with producer John Cooper . . . Gospel artists J4 tracked songs with producer Chris Crain for their debut release . . . The Andes tracked and mixed songs for their debut in the B Room; Don Rocco put the finishing touches on the new CD.

SMART STUDIOS in Madison, Wisconsin sent “Studiophile” a copy of its 12-song compilation, Smart Studios And The Slipper Club Present . . . Under The Radar Vol. 1, which came out in June. The dozen bands (nine from Madison, one from Minneapolis, and two from Chicago) who landed songs on the record were also given a free 12-hour day to record at the studio.

WHITE GOLD SOUND SYSTEM in Chicago celebrated its grand opening last month. The Lakeview vintage and pro audio rental service is designed to aid independent producers, studios, and musicians in their quest for “golden sound.” White Gold rents the professional and vintage gear (including Vintage Neumann M49 tube microphone clones, Telefunken V72 and Neve 1272 mic pres, Genelecs, Apogee converters, Avalon 737 channel strips, API preamps, hard-to-find effects pedals, etc.) you’d find at a fully equipped studios.
