The boob tube has been good to Joe Purdy.

While Purdy, a singer-songwriter born in Arkansas who calls Los Angeles home, is by no means a household name in the music industry, he’s getting closer, and much of that can be attributed to television. His biggest claim to fame thus far is “Wash Away,”a tune that was played in its entirety in an episode of “Lost;” he has also had two tracks, “I Love The Rain”and “Far Away Blues,”featured in “Grey’s Anatomy.”A listen to Only Four Seasons, Purdy’s new record (scheduled for release November 7th), confirms why TV producers love him. Purdy’s mushy singer-songwriter material is the perfect match for slowed-down, tear-jerking montages.

Seasons is Purdy’s fifth album and first with a full backing band. He has already struck gold with two of its songs, “Suitcase”and “The City,”both of which are on the “Grey’s Anatomy”Hollywood Records soundtrack. Let Purdy be a lesson to anyone who says too much TV isn’t good for you.

Purdy opens for Charlotte Martin.
