Head For The Mountains . . . With The Black Crowes

| May 24, 2006

As part of their big thank-you reunion tour, The Black Crowes are hosting contests on their Web site (www.blackcrowes.com) and select radio stations for a VIP Red Rocks show in Denver.

The “Get Tall In The Rockies” contest will award winners from 40 cities and fly them with a guest for a two-night event with the Crowes, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and Drive-By Truckers. The first night (August 12th) promises a show at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre — why don’t they spruce that name up, like First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre? — and the next evening an acoustic concert featuring just Chris and Rich Robinson at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. The latter will be a private event strictly limited to contest winners and friends of the band.

Details? Well, there aren’t any yet. A press release advises vigilance over local airwaves and the band’s Web site. In case you don’t win (odds are you won’t) you can always catch the three bands at Charter One Pavilion — snazzy name, that — on June 24th.
