Quoth the raven, ‘Evermore’
While we await the predicted bubbling over from down under, Evermore’s two-year-old debut gains Stateside release.
There are a number of Australian and New Zealous bands awaiting import to the United States for 2006 (Wolfmother are the first in a movement to include The Grates and The Gear), though Evermore’s steps out of the guitar rock vein for some good ol’ fashioned adult rock. Showered with industry accolades equates them rather fairly with a Coldplay-ish Maroon 5, though the three brothers comprising the band (Jon, Peter, and Dann Hume) add flashes of U2 anthems and British indie bands of the ’80s to the palette. Indistinct yet promising tracks such as “Are You Satisfied,” “It’s Too Late,” and “For One Day” are earmarked for chart stardom, if they can differentiate themselves from so many of the same songs already vying for airplay.
