Battle For Bands
Vote For Lollapalooza’s Final Band
The Lollapalooza organizers have devised an online vote to determine the final roster invitee for the festival, August 4th to 6th in Grant Park.
Dubbed “Last Band Standing,” clicking here will bring you to a page allowing you to cycle through hundreds of bands and vote. Allowing you to cast your pick once a day through June 30th for the first round (Chicago’s Sour Deluxe are currently in the Top 10), the top 100 vote getters advance to round two for celebrity judging, where 32 bands will move on, 12 of which are slated to be from Chicago (hometown . . . yes!).
For the third round, the 20 international/national acts continue to compete online for four final slots, while the Chicago bands will compete in live showcases throughout the city for one final spot. Then, for the fourth and final round, the five bands will play 20 minutes each on August 2nd in front of a panel including Perry Farrell. The winner plays an opening slot at Lollapalooza’s Q101 stage, receives $10,000 worth of equipment from Gibson, an interview and in-store performance at Virgin Megastore, three nights at the House Of Blues Hotel, tickets for friends to see them play, and promotion on the homepage of Lollapalooza.com and partner Web sites. The runner up also plays a side stage, and gets everything but the hotel and equipment. The other three finalists get tickets to the festival.
Battle on!
