Clan of Xymox

Prepare yourselves because The Boss is coming to town, and he wants you to know he’s mad as hell. Bruce Springsteen has never shied away from political commentary, and he’s doubled down on his stance on his latest outing, “Land of Hopes and Dreams American Tour.” It’ll be a night of great music, protest, and rage when Springsteen and the E Street Band take center stage at the United Center this Wednesday, April 29th. You can still get tickets here.

Two generations of Goths have teamed up for a co-headlining tour that proves the Goth scene is alive and well. Clan of Xymox are pioneers of dark wave who continue to influence the scene, while Cold Cave takes the genre’s foundations and reshapes them for the next generation. Catch this double header at the Metro with special guests DJ Scary Lady Sarah, Rosa AnschĂźtz, and Buzz Kull this Wednesday, April 29th. Tickets available here.

Local Metallica tribute Damaged Justice is unique because they’re Chicago’s longest-running local tribute (led by founder Robert Masliansky) to the “founders” of the big four. Now they have a new vocalist. After a year of auditions, DJ returns to their traditional gigs, celebrating a joyous night in recognition of Metallica’s music. They arrive at JJ Kelley’s this Saturday, May 2.

You know those songs that stick with you for years? Ones that randomly pop into your head? Ones that everyone seems to know? Alt-rock duo They Might Be Giants is behind a good number of those. “Particle Man,” “Istanbul (Not Constantinople),” “Birdhouse In Your Soul,” “Don’t Let’s Start,” and “XTC Vs. Adam Ant” are just a snippet of their memorable songs. Expect to hear these along with tracks from their new album, The World Is to Dig, during their three-night stint at The Vic starting Friday, May 1st, through Sunday, May 3rd. You can still get tickets for the 5/3 show here.

Texas blues great Chris Duarte arrives at Tailgaters in Bolingbrook on Sunday, May 3rd, for a rare matinee show (4 pm). Few blues guitarists epitomize modern Texas blues (yoking blues, blues-rock, and jazz fusion) that was jettisoned out of the capital, Austin, in the 90s better than Duarte.
