With tickets on sale nearly two years from their dual performance dates in Chicago – you could say Metallica’s Friday show was the most anticipated of the year. Two years after they headlined Lollapalooza, the band brought their massive in-the-round stage concept back to the lakefront. Performing music that relied heavily on their classic ‘80s albums (Master of Puppets, Ride The Lighting, And Justice For All), much to the crowd’s delight – the evening was arguably highlighted by an amazing live rendition of  1984’s “Fade To Black.”

Mammoth WVH & Pantera did the honors as openers for night one and both bands did not disappoint. IE’s Edward Spinelli captured night one of two.
