Hatsune Miku is the world’s biggest virtual idol. She’s the OG hologram hitting the scene before Tupac and Michael Jackson. And though she’s just a Vocaloid, she remains one of Japan’s most successful exports. Miku’s world concert tour series, Hatsune Miku Expo, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and rolls into Chicago for a sold-out event at the Auditorium Theatre on Tuesday, May 14.

Sleep Token is known for its eclectic sound that spans many genres, including metal, R&B, pop, indie rock, and post-rock. Their unique sound, along with their mysterious identities, quickly made them one of the most buzz-worthy bands of the past year. See what all the hype is about when Sleep Token performs two nights at Salt Shed with Empire State Bastard on May 15 and 16. You can still get tickets here.

Summer comes early with Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” rolling into to town this week. The rapper will show off her impressive flow and tight rhymes when she performs at the United Center with special guest GLoRilla for two nights on May 17 and May 19. You don’t want to miss this, so get tickets here.

British metal stalwarts Saxon, out in support of their new album “Hell, Fire And Damnation,” bring their “Hell, Fire & Chaos” tour to the Chicago area this weekend for two nights of headbangin’ mayhem. This is the band’s first tour of the US since 2018 and features the recently added guitarist Brian Tatler of Diamond Head. Tatler replaces founding guitarist Paul Quinn, who retired from touring last year (Cover photo: Lea Stephan). Along for the ride on this night of classic rock and vintage metal are 70’s hard rock legends Uriah Heep, which is still led by the ageless Mick Box on guitar, who is still burning up the fretboard at the age of 76. Sat, May 18, Rialto Square Theatre, Joliet;  Sun, May 19, Arcada Theatre, St. Charles (-Pat Michaels)
