Skating Polly

For the past six decades, John Oates made up one-half of the soul duo Hall & Oates. The singer/songwriter broke out on his own for his debut solo album Phunk Shui in 2002. Now, he returns with a new solo album, Reunion, and a supporting tour. John Oates will play a sold-out show with Pete Muller at City Winery on Wednesday, May 8, at 7:30 PM.

Skating Polly, comprised of Kurtis and Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse, created their own genre blending the DIY aesthetic of punk with the style of indie pop for what they dub “Ugly Pop.” The trio returned with their new double album Chaos County Line last year – their first new LP in five years. Similar to their music, their shows are intense experiences that often see the band swapping instruments with one another and varying their musical styles and arrangements. See what they’re all about when they play Cobra Lounge with Lord on Friday, the 13, and Pinksqueeze on Saturday, May 11, at 7 PM. Grab tickets here.

British singer/songwriter Craig David is treating fans to his back catalog full of hits like “Fill Me In,” “Rewind,” and “7 Days” on his aptly named “7 Days Commitment Tour” – his first North American tour with a live band in nearly two decades. David will perform his latest and greatest across seven cities, including Chicago, where he’ll be at the Chicago Theatre on Monday, May 13 at 8 PM. Tickets are available here.
