Stage Buzz: Pearl Jam, Taste of Chicago, Cake
Pearl Jam is one of the most acclaimed and outspoken survivors from Seattle’s grunge rock era. With songs dealing with difficult topics, such as loss, self-harm, depression, and loneliness, their music continues to reach listeners far and wide. The iconic band will perform hits spanning their wide catalog during their two-night stint at the United Center on Tuesday, September 5, and Thursday, September 7. You can still get tickets here.
After a slight delay, thanks to NASCAR, The Taste of Chicago returns for a weekend of music and delicious food. This year’s performers include Whitney, White Mystery, Doug E. Fresh, OK Cool, Slick Rick, Proyecto Uno, KRS-One, and more. Festivities kick off Friday, September 8th, and runs through Sunday, September 10 in Grant Park. Get all the details here.
Even if you don’t know CAKE by name, there’s no doubt you’ve heard at least one of their songs. Their hit singles include “The Distance,” “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” “Never There,” “No Phone,” and “Sick Of You.” Their quirky style and singer John McCrea’s distinctive vocals are hard to forget after one listen. The band brings “An Evening with CAKE” to The Salt Shed on Sunday, August 10. Tickets are available here.
