It’s only the second night of the “Joy’All” tour, but you’d never guess it from the sounds emanating from the stage. Jenny Lewis is tearing through “Psychos,” the first single from her album that shares a name with her tour, and she and her band sound like they’ve been on the road for a year. A packed Salt Shed on Chicago’s near west side will spend the evening treating each song like a campfire singalong, albeit a very voluminous one. It’s simply the start of what will become a multi-hyphenated run for Lewis.

In addition to her current jaunt through North America, she’ll also moonlight with her side project, The Postal Service, later this year. But for now, she seems completely content to take a stroll through her esteemed catalog of songs, clad in a black leather jumpsuit that’s a beautiful nod to the Elvis ‘68 comeback model, casually strumming a distressed acoustic guitar, basking in the adulation and camaraderie of a Friday night well spent amongst friends who are just getting to know each other.
