Badflower

Twelve albums in and thrash metal staples Soulfly show no signs of stopping soon. They’ll bring their fusion of groove metal, nu metal, and world music to The Forge in Joliet, IL, with special guests Bodybox, Skinflint, Embryonic, and Autopsy on Friday, March 3rd. Doors open at 6 PM. Grab tickets here.

It’s hard not to find Elle King’s country girl gone bad style irresistible. Ever since her breakout single “Exes and Ohs,” King’s always told it like it is, whether that’s dishing on awful exes or not apologizing for having a good time. In support of her latest album, Come Get Your Wife, King will play The Salt Shed with The Red Clay Strings on Saturday, March 4, at 8 PM. You can still grab tickets here. Read IE’s recent cover story with Elle.

For a brief moment in the mid-2000s, Ja Rule and Ashanti proved to be unstoppable. Each of them racked up a number of hit singles and even teamed up for a few of them. Relive these songs and more during their “Epic Night of Hits” show at The Chicago Theatre on Saturday, March 4 at 8 PM. Get tickets here.

Badflower isn’t afraid of pushing the limit and making things uncomfortable. If anything, their blunt lyrics about sensitive matters and their brutal honesty helped to build a loyal fanbase over the years. The band will bring that same energy to the House of Blues on Sunday, March 5, with special guests Dec Rocs and Blood Red Shoes. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Find tickets here. And if you can’t make the show in person, you can check out the livestream via Veeps.

Acclaimed New Orleans pianist John “Papa” Gros arrives at City Winery on Monday, March 6. New Orleans Advocate said Gros is a “keyboardist, singer and songwriter who draws on funk, rhythm and blues and Americana song-craft. He also knows his way around the Mardi Gras music repertoire about as well as anyone.”
