Stage Buzz: Tomorrow Never Knows Fest, Buddy Guy, Future

If your New Year’s resolution is to listen to more local bands, then look no further than Tomorrow Never Knows. For nearly 20 years, the festival put together by Lincoln Hall, and Schubas has been featuring the best local artists alongside acclaimed national acts, including musicians and comedians. This year’s edition kicks off this week, and features show by 700 Bliss, Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Late Nite Laundry, Jaguar Sun, Ok Cool, Tomberlin, and more. Shows will take place across various venues around the city, so get all the details here.

32 years after his smash single “Finally” climbed the Billboard charts, CeCe Peniston is still going strong. Ready to embark on the next chapter of her life, Peniston is reinventing herself with a new look and new music. She’ll perform new tunes along with classics at her City Winery performance on Thursday, January 19th at 8 PM. Tickets are available here.

The New Year parties may be over, but Future is keeping the celebration going on his “One Big Party Tour,” and he’s bringing all his friends. Lil Jairmy, Doe Boy, Double 0, Rob 49, Baby Face Ray, Boston Richie, Est Gee, and Kodak Black all join the fun when the tour rolls in the United Center on Friday, January 21st at 7 PM. Chicago Blues legend Buddy Guy is playing his annual slew of shows with his friends and fellow peers at his venerable club Buddy Guy’s Legends. Saturday (Jan. 21), he performs with special guest Mike Wheeler; Sunday (Jan. 22), you can see him with Corey Dennison. He’ll wrap up the residency with Laretha Weathersby.
