Since their inception in 2016, Australia’s Amyl & The Sniffers have earned themselves a reputation as an explosive live act. Not surprising, considering their brand of Stooges-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeah’s always receives extra emphasis from lead singer Amy Taylor. Once the music hits, her metamorphosis into a full-on hellion is immediately apparent. This was completely on display during the band’s recent performance at Logan Square Auditorium. The quartet is trucking across the States this Spring, and on a Saturday night in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, the band plowed through 19 songs at top volume and maximum intensity. But eyes could not be taken off Taylor. She screamed, contorted, and squeezed every emotion from each musical moment. By the end of the evening, they left it all on the stage. Another city left decimated and on to the next.
