Ghost & Volbeat
Allstate Arena
Rosemont, IL
February 18, 2022
Recap and Photos by Edward Spinelli
Co-headliners Ghost and Volbeat brought the fans out en masse (despite a freak snow squall) to Allstate Arena Friday.
Beelzebub ruled the evening.
Ghost vocalist Tobias Forge donned his signature ghoul makeup like a 19th-century zombie in the Victorian Age. The current version of the political police in certain states surely won’t be happy with a band intro that includes the mantra “Hail, Satan” as they launched into their set. Mom and Dad – hang on to your undies, gonna be a lot of shouting the devil tonight. Their 90-minute set satisfied a healthy crowd in the wake of some weird winter weather
“It seems like you like the devil stuff,” Volbeat vocalist Michael Poulson announced as they commenced “The Devil Rages On.” The Danish heavy rockers could certainly be headlining their own solo set but they’ve treated their fans to a strong double bill.
Openers Twin Temple (Alexandra and Zachary James) practice their own version of Satanism, including freeing the oppressed and targeted.
