Kacey Musgraves’ “Star-Crossed: Unveiled” tour has officially put rubber on the pavement. The 15-date sojourn landed at Chicago’s United Center on Thursday night, replete with gorgeous set pieces, a crackling band, and a clip filled with rounds of break-up songs. But unlike the opening night performance in Minneapolis the night prior, which found Musgraves playing her latest record in its entirety, this setlist peeked into her career as a whole. Although her most recent effort is certainly a response to her recent divorce, she chose to not play the role of “buzzkill,” but instead provided an evening of badly needed escapism from, well, everything. Even opening acts King Princess and MUNA brought it, hinting both were ready and intimidated to play the big room, then acted accordingly.
