Stage Buzz: Livestream Buzz May 17-23

A rare Monday VIP Livestream commences at the “Night of Covenant House Stars,” a virtual gala on Monday, May 17 featuring appearances by Jon Bon Jovi, Charlie Day, Jewel, Audra McDonald, Dolly Parton, Vanessa Williams, Sara Bareilles, Chita Rivera, Dionne Warwick, and more. RSVP to the event here.

Philly’s acclaimed Disco Biscuits added a last-minute hometown livestream concert to their current tour. The Fillmore Philadelphia will host the quartet tonight (Tuesday, May 18), with a broadcast available via Couchtour. tv starting at 6 PM CDT.

We’re usually gathered at Metro Chicago for it, but the “Virtual Hot Stove Cool Music Concert” returns Tuesday, May 18, via livestream. The virtual concert brings together music and baseball all-stars to raise critically needed funds to support the next generation of diverse leaders through the Foundation To Be Named Later and their nonprofit partners working on the frontlines with youth and families in underserved neighborhoods in Boston and Chicago. C0-founded by Theo Epstein and Baseball Hall of Fame journalist Peter Gammons, performances include Eddie Vedder; Grammy Award-winning Cellist Yo-Yo Ma; Julianna Hatfield; Bill Janovitz; Wyc Grousbeck and his band French Lick; Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo); Will Dailey; beloved Red Sox pitching standout Bronson Arroyo; and New York Yankee legend Bernie Williams. On May 20, Outpost in the Burbs presents “May Your Song Always Be Sung,” a virtual celebration of the music of Bob Dylan on his 80th birthday.  Performers include Robyn Hitchcock, Richard Barone, The Kennedys, Bettye LaVette, Nils Lofgren, Low Cut Connie, Richard Thompson, and more. Proceeds from the show benefit The Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair, NJ. Tune in on Facebook and YouTube at 7 PM.

One of the bigger livestreams this month, Twenty One Pilots, presents their “Livestream Experience” on May 21 (7 pm).  Tickets are $20, and each ticket lets you access a unique interactive experience in the days leading up to the show, including access to limited merchandise, special editions of their new album Scaled And Icy, unpublished content, and a chance for access to Tyler and Josh before the live performance. Also, on May 21, The Glastonbury Festival presents ‘Live At Worthy Farm,” a livestream featuring performances by Coldplay, Damon Albarn, HAIM, IDLES, Jorja Smith, Kano, Michael Kiwanuka, Wolf Alice, and special guests. Savannah Music Festival announced a series of free and low-cost livestream performances by acclaimed classical, jazz, and American roots artists during the festival’s much-anticipated 2021 Spring Season on May 23-30. SMF’s first event, “Jazz at Lincoln Center Septet,” with Wynton Marsalis, launches May 23.
