Vampire Weekend doubled down on the dads this past, um, weekend. The New York band brought their “Father Of The Bride” tour to Chicago’s lakefront on the male-est of the Hallmark Holiday’s, Fathers Day. After a six year (!) lapse in between releases, their 2019 album-whose album title is eponymous with their tour name-the band has cause for celebration. The record debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Apparently, the people are both patient and attentive listeners. The lawn was open for business at Northerly Island, which is indicative of only the heavier drawing acts. Gotham’s musical Nosferatu’s rewarded those in attendance on an unseasonably cold June evening with a generous set list just shy of three dozen songs over the course of nearly two and one half hours. The lengthy and gluttonous musical gift was considerably more heartfelt than scooping up a 99 cent card for the old man on the discount rack at the local Speedway.
