Recap and Photo Gallery: Sharon Van Etten with Lucy Dacus at Thalia Hall
After the critical adulation and commercial breakthrough of her Tramp album, Sharon Van Etten all but disappeared from the public eye. Well, sort of. She returned to college, became a mother, worked as an actress and did soundtrack work for film. Not exactly what one would call laying idle. Earlier this year she returned to a traditional recording career by releasing Remind Me Tomorrow in January. It immediately became a contender for βbest ofβ year-end lists even though the calendar is only two months young. Her tour of the same name landed at Thalia Hall in Pilsen and rapidly became a two night residency due to ticket demand.
The bill on Night 2 also included Lucy Dacus, who could easily fill the venue on her own. Van Ettenβs performance oscillated from raging to smoldering and every emotional touchstone in between (Dacus even joined her to harmonize on a delicate cover of Sinead OβConnorβs βBlack Boys On Mopedsβ). Hereβs hoping her next creative sojourn and return to the stage isnβt quite so lengthy.
