Laura Pergolizzi is probably not a name that’s immediately familiar to even the most ardent of music fans. Even her performing moniker, LP, only nominally increases her reach. But to artist’s like Cher, Christina Aguilera and Backstreet Boys, her songwriting acumen has been long been cherished.

Over the course of five albums and numerous EPs, Pergolizzi has steadily carved out an audience of her own. With each touring cycle, her fan base has grown incrementally, the result of them connecting with her passionate performances and the intimate content of her work. LP brought all of those talents to a sold out Vic Theater in Chicago this past weekend, and judging by the sing-along nature of the performance (attendees hung and voluminously vocalized every syllable), LP seems to have broken out of her cult-like status, leaving her more famous customers as the second most important thing in her career.
