Tal Wilkenfeld @ United Center
Tal Wilkenfeld has had some experiences most musicians can only dream about, and she’s done it all before the age of 30.
In 2006, the 18 year-old Tal packed her bags and her bass guitar and headed to New York City. A few months later, after incessantly gigging around town, she found herself playing alongside The Allman Brothers. Since then, the multi-instrumentalist has found herself in Jeff Beck‘s 2008-2010 touring band and collaborating with Ryan Adams and Jackson Browne. She arrives this week as the opening act on The Who Hits 50! North American tour, securely keeping her winning streak intact. Predominantly an instrumentalist (her expertise and acclaim is on the bass guitar), Wilkenfeld recently released the single “Corner Painter,” a work that adds to her arsenal as a husky-throated vocalist.
In addition to her performance with The Who at United Center on Thursday March 10, the acclaimed prodigy also headlines Wednesday, March 9th at Thalia Hall. Presumably, all that’s left to do is patiently wait for Wonka to hand over the keys to the Chocolate Factory since she’s obviously in possession of the Golden Ticket.
