LISTEN: New singles from Neko Case and The Civil Wars
She’s been called a siren. A vixen. An angel. But cowboy? Neko Case adds another identity to her arsenal with “Man,” the first single from her forthcoming album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You (Anti, Sept. 3). It crackles with masculine bravado and takes a cue from Case’s formative punk years.
Only Joy Williams and John Paul White know what the future holds for The Civil Wars after the Grammy-winning duo canceled a tour with only a loaded statement about unreconcilable differences as explanation. The good news is they made good on their promise of new music. The wait for their self-titled sophomore album extends until Aug. 6 and first single, “The One That Got Away,” only intensifies the agony.
