Mayhem

It’s hard to keep up with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. If he isn’t on tour with the Crüe or starring in his own reality TV show (“Tommy Goes To College,” “Rockstar Supernova”), he has a new side project to promote.

Out of the ashes of Methods Of Mayhem, his rock/rap hybird from 1999 comes a bit of an oddity — the Electro Mayhem tour with “turntablist” DJ Aero, where Tommy is able to whip out his favorite beats as a rogue DJ. Lee recently told Edmonton’s Vue Weekly he “thinks dance music penetrates the soul so much more than rock.” (And if anyone knows penetration . . . )

That statement won’t make his Crüe fans happy, but you can’t fault the guy for following his muse. On this cross-country excursion Lee’s Electro Mayhem tour stops at the Congress Theatre, where the emphasis will be “dirty electro house and beats.”
