If you say you’ve never heard of Abra Moore, you would be lying.

True, her name may not be familiar, but her nondescript voice should have wormed itself into the brain of any television fan of the last decade. Before “Grey’s Anatomy” became the “it” show for a band to bring its wounded tunes to the masses (a la Snow Patrol), Moore licensed her plush, silvery background music to the quintessential ’90s fare that tugged at our heartstrings and had us speaking with Harvard-level vocabulary in whispered tones. Of course we’re talking about “Dawson’s Creek” and “Felicity.” Moore showed up during some other strange points, too: “Nash Bridges,” “Melrose Place,” and “Baywatch,” for example.

The Grammy nominated singer’s new album, On The Way (Sarathan), continues in the made-for-TV vein. The 11 tracks could easily fit in the aforementioned shows, if they were still on the air. The role of music supervisor has become a coveted and important job in the last few years and folks like Moore make it easier for whomever fills the position. Her ethereal, dainty compositions hide in the shadows so viewers can focus their attention on the dialogue-filled scene taking place before them. On The Way fulfills this role, even though the songs aren’t paired with pretty actors . . . yet.
