Heal The World

| October 11, 2006

Monday, October 16th is World Food Day, and Metro hopes to do its part with the Stand Up Against Poverty benefit concert that night.

The Wrigleyville club joins forces with Concern Worldwide to host the benefit, which will include performances by Sean Cleland And Friends, Baal Tinne, and Nancy Stone. The show is actually the kick-off of Concern Worldwide’s 2006 Hunger Campaign that will run in Chicago through Thanksgiving Day. Concern Worldwide is an organization that works in 27 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Central America, and Eastern Europe providing emergency relief and long-term assistance. The Chicago Hunger Campaign began in 2004 as a one-day fast to raise attention and funds for world hunger. This year is Worldwide expanded the event to a month-long campaign to offer more choices for people to become involved.

The Stand Up Against Poverty concert is all-ages, and tickets are $10 in advance, $20 the day of the show; all proceeds benefit Concern Worldwide. For more information on Concern Worldwide and the 2006 Hunger Campaign, visit www.concernusa.org.
