Hit The Switch
Domestic Tranquility & Social Justice
(Nitro)

Concise SoCal punks Hit The Switch are quick at the controls on latest album.

Striking a familiar, though faster, chord as The Get Up Kids — a comparison most easily drawn to singer Matthew Hawks’ nasal yell — the energy on Domestic Tranquility & Social Justice can hardly be contained. Though their technical prowess on guitar threatens to come unglued (see “Nishtagea”) and drown the whole affair in a prog punk shitstorm, those moments are ferociously devoured by fits of gang screams and unplacated drumming. With such relentless speed and lack of variation, tracks such as “Operation Northwoods” and “Mind Rape Culture” tend to get lost, but 12 songs in 28 minutes will do that to ya.
