The Jefferson Family Galactic Reunion
House Of Blues, Chicago
Tuesday, February 21, 2006

Late last year, Sony’s reissue arm, Legacy, began redistributing the Paul Kanter material that would become Jefferson Starship, which followed in the wake of Jefferson Airplane. That it would ultimately run into the ground as just plain Starship probably ruined the plans of anyone who ever dreamt of building cities on rock ‘n’ roll. But in order to try to rebuild, this reunion comes through town abetted by another era relic, Country Joe.

Officially celebrating the 40th anniversary of Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and all things San Franciscan, anyone who shows will be treated to a three/four-hour extravaganza of the motor behind what climaxed at Woodstock. Grace Slick, who retired from touring years ago, will have her part filled by Diana Mangano, which is probably as good as the real thing since Slick doesn’t resemble her former self at all. The ’60s were good for, but not *to* her.

Tickets are available for the Circle Of Gold, which allows fans to meet some of the band and receive a CD recording of the show directly from the soundboard.
