Tomorrow Never Knows
Schubas, Chicago
January 12 to 15, 2006

Loyola’s college station, WLUW 88.7 FM, reprises its annual Schubas fest with headliners Kevin Tihista, Manishevitz, Chin Up Chin Up, and Magnolia Electric Co.

While we’re not sure what kind of a festival makes you pay for full-price tickets each night, money does go to fund the station (we think), and the Illiana roster is, as per usual, impressive. Illiana? Yes, that’s the common name given to the areas of Illinois and Indiana that have no exceptional features (other than flat, flat land) to distinguish one state from the other. We’ve bastardized it here to include a healthy helpin’ of Chicago talent (Tihista, Chin Up) with bands from the Indiana-based Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar labels. Magnolia’s Jason Molina even relocated to Chicago, so he’s the best of both worlds.

We can even extend it to include some other non-Land Of Lincoln invitees (Moonlight Towers), but maybe we’ll just shut it and print the schedule:

Thursday, January 12
Kevin Tihista, Andrew Morgan, and Tenki.

Friday, January 13
Manishevitz, The Spinto Band, The 1900s, and Moonlight Towers.

Saturday, January 14
Chin Up Chin Up, Pit Er Pat, Tapes ‘N Tapes, and Lake Holiday.

Sunday, January 15
Magnolia Electric Co., Palliard, The Small Wire, and The Deaths.

The dates are correct above, but the days are mixed up. I’m planning on going to the Friday show.
