After three sold-out shows at the historic lakefront venue (Oasis, My Chemical Romance, The Lumineers), System of a Down arrived at Soldier Field (with Avenged Sevenfold) for their penultimate debut on the Lakefront. Near-perfect weather aided SOAD in its first appearance in Chicagoland since 2019 at the late, great Open Air in Bridgeview.

As expected, the crowd ate up their classic set, commencing with “Soldier Side-intro,” as lead singer Serj Tankian joined in. They then bulldozed through their one-two punch of “B.Y.O.B.,” plus a 27-song set with SOAD classics including “Suite-Pee,” “Chop Suey,” and “Psycho,” on another near-perfect weather night near Lake Michigan. Avenged Sevenfold opened impressively with their own pummeling set.
