Frank Black

Before Metalocalypse showed us just how funny metal could be, there was Psychostick. The band has been using hard rock and metal for their humorous songs that range from celebrating the tastiness of beer and how much doing laundry sucks. The band will bring their unique humor to Beat Kitchen this Saturday, January 25th at 7 PM with Arc Impulse and Secret Tape performing the music of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. If you’re brave enough to face to cold, get tickets here.

Black Francis recorded alternative rock classics under Pixies. After the band’s breakup, he went on to helm his critically acclaimed album Teenager of the Year under the name Frank Black. To celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary, Black will perform the album in its entity for two-nights at the Metro starting Saturday, January 25th and wrapping up Sunday, January 26th. You can still get tickets to Sunday’s show here.

Rochester, New York’s King Buffalo fuse heavy blues, stoner rock, and psychedelic for a sound they dub “heavy psych.” Their 2022 album, Regenerator, not only earned them a loyal following, but it was also one of Bandcamp’s best-selling rock albums of the year. The band promise to return with its follow up this year, but for now they’re content with touring. King Buffalo will perform two shows at Empty Bottle on Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th. Find tickets here.
