Stage Buzz: Twisted Xmas: Smashing Pumpkins, All American Rejects, plus Umphrey’s McGee
Q101’s holiday tradition, Twisted Xmas, kicks off this week with a series of can’t-miss shows that will get you in the holiday spirit or (hopefully) help you escape the reigns of the Christmas Queen (aka Mariah Carey). The series of concerts kicks off on Tuesday, December 10th, with performances from Cage the Elephant and Franz Ferdinand, and almost on Monday. It all goes down at the Aragon Ballroom at 7 PM. Treat yourself to an early gift and grab tickets here.
Local heroes Umphrey’s McGee will hold a series of intimate shows dubbed the “Top Note Sessions.” The shows consist of recording sessions that take the form of a live concert and will take place over three nights on the 4th floor of the Metro. All three shows will stream live via Nugs, and 90 lucky fans will have a chance to watch the shows in person through a lottery. The sessions start Tuesday, December 10th, and run through Thursday, December 12th. Get all the details here.
The Twisted Christmas party continues the following day with a show from The All American Rejects playing a slew of fan favorites like “Dirty Little Secret,” “Gives You Hell,” and “Move Along.” The night also features an exceptional solo performance by Andrew McMahon and a set from Dexter and the Moonrocks. The show is set for Wednesday, December 11that the Aragon Ballroom at 7 PM. You can still get tickets here.
Headlining night three of Twisted Xmas is the iconic Smashing Pumpkins with AWOLNATION and Badflower on Thursday, December 12th. Tickets are available here. The series wraps up on Friday, December 13th (MWAHAHA) with a sold-out show featuring Bush, Bishop Briggs, Mod Sun, and PalayeRoyale. Grab tickets while you can here.
