The Psychedelic Furs

French electronic duo Air earned critical acclaim with their debut album, Moon Safari, back in 1998. With its blend of dream pop, downtempo beats, electronica, and trip-hop, the album was only the start of their influential legacy. The band will celebrate the 26th anniversary of their debut album with a full album performance at the Auditorium Theatre this Tuesday, October 8th, at 8 PM. You can still get tickets here.

El Monte’s The Red Pears are the epitome of DIY. The band has more than paid their dues from playing shows in unconventional venues, like pizza places and tire shops, to screen printing and hauling their shirts to giveaway to fans after the show. This do-it-yourself mentality remains strong as the band recorded most of their latest album, Better Late Than Never, out of their garages. Hear cuts from their latest album and fan favorites when they play Park West this Wednesday, October 9th, with Ultra Q and The High Curbs. Grab tickets here.

Missouri’s heavy rock and melody music royalty King’s X returns to Arcada Theatre with acclaimed UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore on Saturday, September 12. Pioneering drop D tuning, which was unique to metal four decades ago, they released four classic albums in the late 80s and 90s, Out of the Silent Planet. Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, plus Faith Hope Love. They’re touring to support their 13th album, Three Sides Of One. Tickets are available here. (-David Gedge)

From “Pretty in Pink” to “Love My Way,” The Psychedelic Furs are one of the most endearing bands to emerge from the 1980s post-punk scene. They had catchy hooks for the mainstream pop crowd and the ultimate cool factor for the underground scene. They’ve more than earned their legacy status, yet they continue making new music with their latest album, Made of Rain, dropping in 2020. Hear all the hits and more when The Psychedelic Furs play The Salt Shed with Jesus and Mary Chain and Frankie Rose on Sunday, October 13th at 7 PM. Find tickets here.
