Stage Buzz: Megadeth, Weezer, Peter Hook and the Light
If Dave Mustaine hadn’t been ousted from Metallica 41 years ago, there would have been no Megadeth. Considered one of the Big Four of metal, the band has remained one of the genre’s most influential bands. Known for their biting lyrics and face-melting riffs, the band continues to reach new fans with classics like “Peace Sells,” “Symphony of Destruction,” and “Sweating Bullets” and new music from their latest album, The Sick, the Dying…and the Dead! Catch these thrash metal titans when they perform at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30 PM. Grab tickets here.
Though Weezer have 15 albums (and counting) to their name, their 1994 self-titled debut (aka the Blue Album) is still considered their best. It’s hard to argue otherwise with singles like “Buddy Holly,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Undone – The Sweater Song,” and “My Name Is Jonas.” The album turns 30 this year, and the band will perform the record in full to celebrate. Don’t miss this exceptional performance at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont on Friday, September 6th at 7 PM. You can still find tickets here.
Peter Hook is blessed to be part of two influential bands: Joy Division and New Order. Both bands significantly impacted the alternative music and post-punk scene with albums like New Order’s Power, Corruption, Lies and Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures. To celebrate these iconic bands, Hook and Co. will perform the Substance albums by Joy Division and New Order in their entirety. Peter Hook and the Light will play at the Riviera Theatre this Saturday, September 7th, at 8 PM. Tickets are available here.
