K.K.’s Priest, KMFDM, Ministry, Alkaline Trio, Olivia Rodrigo
Industrial pioneer’s Ministry has been threatening to split up many times throughout their careers. Their latest album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, is supposed to be their last, but as fans know, frontman Al Jourgensen isn’t shy about changing his mind. Either way, you won’t want to miss Ministry in action when they play Aragon Ballroom this Thursday, March 14, at 7 PM. Better play it safe and get tickets in case this is the last curtain call. Germany’s KMFDM helped lay the groundwork for industrial music. Referring to their music as “The Ultra-Heavy Beat,” the band incorporates elements of heavy metal, electronic music, and samples. The band’s influence on the genre can still be felt 40 years later. Touring in support of their new album Let Go, the industrial rockers will perform at the Metro on Friday, March 15, at 9 PM. Get tickets here.
Co-founding guitarist of Judas Priest, K.K Downing, brings his band K.K.’s Priest to the Arcada Theatre on Friday, March 15. Like many former band members  from high-profile rock acts – his time in Judas Priest didn’t end so amicably, but that hasn’t diminished original JP fans from seeking out his music and live shows.  Touring in support of last year’s The Sinner Rides Again, KK brings old-school metal that Priest fans love, especially with Tim “Ripper” Owens vocally leading the charge. Expect a sell-out for this one. Grab those tickets now. LA Guns and Burning Witches also perform.
Chicago punk icons Alkaline Trio triumphantly returned last month with their new album Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs. And if you couldn’t guess from the title, it gets gritty and grim. The band will perform their latest and greatest at the Aragon Ballroom with Drug Church and Worriers this Saturday, March 16, at 8 PM. Tickets are available here. Pop-rock superstar Olivia Rodrigo will spill her “Guts” to Chicago on Tuesday, March 19th and Wednesday, March 20th. Performing for two sold-out crowds at United Center as part of the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed Guts World Tour, Rodrigo is slated to bring a far bigger and, for lack of a better word, gutsier production than her debut Sour tour. Rodrigo will be joined by opening act and midwestern art-pop princess Chappell Roan — an equally exuberant act all on her own. Expect hoarse throats and mascara-stained cheeks after the Guts tour; the sequined all-American rockstar will perform 22 songs across her two best-selling albums — a winding setlist you won’t want to miss. Doors open at 6:30. (-Riley Vernon)
