Stage Buzz: Depeche Mode, Model/Actriz, Lil Wayne, Deacon Blues
Depeche Mode suffered a devastating loss last year with the passing of co-founding member Andy Fletcher. Now a duo, with a supporting cast – the band is marching forward with their new album Memento Mori and a highly anticipated world tour. The Basildon lads will swing by the United Center for a sold-out show on Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30 PM. You can find resale tickets here.
2023 is already a big year for Brooklyn noise-rock band Model/Actriz. Their debut album Dogsbody is already touted as one of the best releases of this year, and with their frenzied, downright manic performances, they’re quickly earning a reputation as a can’t-miss live act. If you want to see this buzzworthy band, check out their performance at Empty Bottle on Thursday, April 6. Doors open at 8 PM. Grab tickets here.
Acclaimed Steely Dan Tribute, Deacon Blues comes to Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights Friday April 7. The All-Star band is a celebration of all things Becker & Fagan, including classic cuts “FM,” “Deacon Blues,” “Hey Nineteen, “I Got The News,” Reelin’ In The Years,” and classic Dan album tracks “Pretzel Logic,” “Show Biz Kids,” “Home at Last.” Read our interview with co-founder Steven Kikoen here.
Ville Valo served as the charming frontman of the Finnish rock band HIM for 25 years before their split in 2017. Luckily, Valo has returned to music, this time on his own, to the joy of melancholy hearts around the world. Valo will play two nights at the House of Blues on Sunday, April 9 and 10. Tickets are available here.
Lil Wayne returns to Chicago as part of his “Welcome to tha Carta tour,” marking his first outing since 2019’s ambitious run with pop punk princes Blink-182. Catch Weezy at Radius this Sunday, April 9, at 8 PM. Doors open at 7. You can still get tickets here.
