Stage Buzz: SZA, Rick Springfield, Local H, Muse
The release of SZA’s long-awaited sophomore album SOS was a huge moment not only for the singer but for music in general. It became her first album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 and broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the US. Now, SZA kicks off her first-ever arena tour and will make a stop in Chicago for a show at the United Center on Wednesday, February 22 at 8 PM. Tickets are available here.
From General Hospital to “Jessie’s Girl,” Rick Springfield has had a long, illustrious career. In defiance of the “Legacy Act” tag, Springfield continues releasing new music both on his own and with his fellow musicians, such as Coheed and Cambria, and Russell Morris. Now, you can watch Springfield perform deep cuts and classic singles during his show at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan on Friday, February 24 at 8 PM. Tickets are still on sale.
Pandemic-era Chicago venue support organization (Chicago Independent Venue League) CIVL hosts local alt-rock legends Local H at Metro Friday, February 24, with support from Shiner and Heet Deth. It’s part of their February CIVL Fest.
Over the course of 29 years, Muse went from a group of lads from Teignmouth, Devon playing small local shows to one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Eager to embrace new sounds and innovative technology, their arena shows are massive spectacles featuring larger-than-life visuals, a stunning light show, and of course, the otherworldly wail of frontman Matt Bellamy. They’ll bring all this and more to the United Center on Saturday, February 25, with special guests Evanescence and One OK Rock. Get tickets here.
