Stage Buzz: Megadeth, New Order and Pet Shop Boys, Gorillaz, Iron Maiden

| September 29, 2022

Megadeth, one of the big four in metal, continues holding their title as absolute legends of the genre. Rising from the ashes of Dave Mustaine’s short stint in Metallica, the band has firmly stood on its own for nearly 40 years. Clearly, they have no plans on becoming a legacy act as they just released their sixteenth studio album, The Sick, The Dying…and the Dead! Now, you can see these legends in action when they perform at Tinley Park’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre with Five Finger Death Punch, Fire From the Gods, and The Hu on Friday, September 30 at 6:30 PM. Tickets

Two of synth pops most iconic acts, New Order and Pet Shop Boys, became some of the most influential acts in their own right thanks to a blend of synth, new wave, disco, dance, and post-punk. Their influence goes beyond the genre and continues to be felt to this day. Now, these two acts are teaming up for “The Unity Tour,” which is making its way to Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island on Friday, September 30 at 6:30 PM. Tickets

Drowning Pool could have easily thrown in the towel when their front Dave Williams tragically passed away in 2001. Instead, they soldiered on. Three lead singers and six albums later, the band is ready to start their next chapter with their new album Strike a Nerve. Don’t miss these guys when they bring the “Strike a Nerve” tour to Joliet’s The Forge on Sunday, October 2 at 6 PM. Tickets

When Gorillaz comes to town, you can expect a star-studded lineup. And their latest North American tour proves to be no different. Touring in support of their upcoming eighth album Cracker Island, Damon Albarn, the man behind the virtual band, continues to push the limits of the band by continuing to team up with the most groundbreaking and eclectic artists, such as De La Soul, Thundercat, Tame Impala, and Vince Staples to name a few. You never know who the band will bring on stage, so you do not want to miss their show at the United Center this Monday, October 3 at 7:30 PM. Tickets

Pandemic be damned, The mighty Iron Maiden have finally returned to America after a long three-year absence. The Legacy of the Beast tour rampages through United Center on Wednesday, October 5, for what will likely be a sonic assault on those in attendance. It’s been a little over a year since their Senjutsu album was released, and in true typical Maiden fashion, the setlist will be peppered with plenty of new songs off that album. Strap yourselves in, boys and girls, and up the hammers! (Pat Michaels)
